    1. Hi Eugene, the duties of Court Assistants vary from Court to Court. Therefore their duties in Criminal court will be different from their duties in Family, Civil, Housing etc. In small Court Houses upstate, they may act as Part Clerks and perform duties such as swearing in witnesses, marking evidence at trials and so on. In Family Court, they might assist petitioners with applications for orders of protection, child support and so on. This is only a partial summary of their duties.

  7. Thank you for all the information. I took the dec 2014 exam and scored an 88 my # is around 10000 for nyc. How far did the last test from 2010 reach for nyc as far as list number goes. Thanks

    1. Hi Mark, I don’t know the exact number, but it was somewhere in that range. However, every list is different. It depends on how many officers they plan on hiring. They will probably not hire anyone before the summer. I do recommend that you consider accepting a job upstate also, this will increase your chances of being hired. You should take into consideration that it might take you a long time to transfer back to NYC. However, many Officers enjoy working upstate.

    2. Hi Mark, I recommend that you get in contact with the Human Resources Office. They should be able to tell you how far they have reached already. You can also verify that they have your correct information on file.
