Mail and File Clerk

Duties: 

As a Mail or File clerk, you will be assigned to either the Mail or Records Unit responsible for:

  • Receiving and delivering mail throughout a large organization located in separate buildings.
  • Preparing and processing express mail, and making special deliveries.
  • Labeling, indexing, closing out, and transmitting records to the Federal Records Center.
  • Searching on-site case files.

Salary range:   $40,345 to $52,452 per year

  • Note: This is a Term appointment not to exceed 13 months; however, based on the needs of the Agency the appointment may be extended up to 4 years from the original appointment date.

  • United States Citizen or National.
  • Pass Background investigation, credit check, and drug test.

Qualifications

GS-5: To be qualified at the GS-5 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level; OR, four years of education above the high school level, OR, a combination of experience and education.

Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as experience receiving and distributing mail within a large organization; preparing outgoing regular and express mail; preparing records for long and short-term storage; and locating and delivering files.
