As of October 1, 2026, NYC DCAS has four open competitive civil service exams actively accepting applications. The headline addition is Police Officer Exam No. 7314 — the fourth NYPD open competitive cycle in 2026 — which opened October 1 and closes just 14 days later on October 14. Two other exams close within the same week (Police Communications Technician on October 13). Correction Officer and Special Officer NYC H+H have more runway, staying open until October 27.

NYC Department of Correction — Rikers Island and other NYC correctional facilities. Multiple-choice written exam. Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Medical, psychological, and physical fitness evaluations required before appointment. You have until October 27 to apply — the longest remaining window of the four active exams. Security and order-maintenance at NYC Health + Hospitals facilities only. Education and Experience Exam — no separate written test date; qualifications are reviewed online in OASys. You must Final Submit your E&E Exam in OASys before midnight on October 27 or your application is incomplete. Note: NYC H+H is a separate municipal employer — seniority and salary step reset at H+H. What is the Police Communications Technician role?
Police Communications Technicians are NYC’s 911 call-takers and police radio dispatchers in the NYPD Communications Section. Starting salary is approximately $51,790/yr. No NYC residency required. This is a multiple-choice written exam. What’s the difference between Special Officer Exam 7327 and Exam 7329?
Exam 7327 (DCAS agencies) closed September 22 — that window is now closed. Exam 7329 (NYC Health + Hospitals only) is still open through October 27. NYC H+H is a separate municipal employer with its own salary scale and seniority system. If you’re a current City agency employee considering H+H, note that accepting an H+H appointment resets your seniority date. What is an EEE exam and what’s the Special Officer H+H deadline?
EEE stands for Education and Experience Exam — your qualifications (education, work history) are reviewed online in OASys rather than at a written test. You must complete and Final Submit your E&E information in OASys by midnight Eastern Time on October 27, 2026. Once submitted, no changes are possible. Missing the Final Submit = no score, no refund.
