Thruway Maintenance Workers (TMW) — 3 Openings
TMWs maintain, repair, and reconstruct the 570-mile Thruway’s pavement, bridges, culverts, drainage systems, and structures. They operate heavy equipment and perform snow and ice control. Three current openings across Central NY and the Hudson Valley — in Oneida, Onondaga, and Columbia counties. Entry-level Trainee 1 requires only a CDL-B Class permit with tank endorsement. Three engineering positions are open at the Thruway Authority across Albany (Capital Region) and Erie (Western NY / Buffalo area) counties. All three close November 1, 2026. These are civil and transportation engineering roles supporting Thruway infrastructure planning, design, and project oversight. Grade 18 and Grade 20 positions are available, with a traineeship option for candidates who meet the base qualification requirements but have less experience.
